These horses have a job, which is the real reason why there are still horses today. Horses were bred to work. Now, these horses are more than likely worked but not overworked. How could they be? Aren't there watchdogs in NY? And Michele, horses eat hay which is flammable. They also are bedded in straw, shavings or some other absorbent material that is also flammable. I think you are only telling people what you want to say. You have good intentions but please don't color the truth.

Lea you don't really understand horses do you? I have here at my ranch four generations of horses who all love to work. The physical condition of all the horses in the photos is good. They have a good body condition score which is what any veterinarian would use to rate the health of the horses. While they are not overly fat, they are not overly thin considering their use. Horses manure, this is why they likely have feces in their stalls. (continued)

I jump with him, sure, but the jumps are not too high, he lives in good conditions, he's not worked too hard or too long, and I do not use a harsh bit on his mouth. I also shower him with affection. This is what the guilty-free riders do.

You are so down to earth to all those who are suffering, one of them being horses! I never knew how hard these horses had to go through. I didn't know that they lived with flammable hay with fire. I didn't know that some were tied. I never knew that. But now I do. I wish that so many people would stop keeping them in those horses in those types of places, and just let them roam free. :)

As a graduate student in biology and infectious disease recent emerging infectious diseases with zoonotic origins, i.e., SARS, HUS, have reinforced why animals and humans do not mix well in close quarters. NYC, a highly urban, overcrowded, area is probably the worst place on earth for a horse. Even if you do not support PETA's agenda, everyone should certainly support their own safety. I can't understand why the City allows this?? In Sweden you can't even own a horse unless you can ensure the horse can graze and have a paddock. It upsets me so much to see such cruelty to such amazing, trusting animals. Heartbreaking :(

I own and LOVE horses, and while meant well, this is ridiculous. ALL HORSES SLEEP STANDING UP. All stables have "flammable" hay and feces in stalls (horses don't use bathrooms!). They are turned out in all seasons. Horses love to work and 4 trips a day through the park is not "hard physical labor." These horses get months in the country every year and retire there. They are loved and cared for. DO YOUR RESEARCH before taking people's, and animals, livelihood.

This is dumb. Not factual, the horses are obviously groomed because they look pretty to people that want to have a carriage ride. They are kept in small stalls yea, but they get regular exercise everyday when they pull. These horses are also bred to be work horses, back when PETA wasn't around to annoy people. But she is still hot, so I enjoyed watching her.

They have a good body condition score which is what any veterinarian would use to rate the health of the horses. While they are not overly fat, they are not overly thin considering their use. @Adoginthehouse It's not bad if you ride a horse if you treat it right. I'm 15 and I've been riding for 10 years and I love it. I ride a 10 year old named Cigar. I jump with him, sure, but the jumps are not too high, he lives in good conditions, he's not worked too hard or too long, and I do not use a harsh bit on his mouth. I also shower him with affection. This is what the guilty-free riders do.

You are so down to earth to all those who are suffering, one of them being horses! I never knew how hard these horses had to go through. I didn't know that they lived with flammable hay with fire. I didn't know that some were tied. I never knew that. But now I do. I wish that so many people would stop keeping them in those horses in those types of places, and just let them roam free. :)

Ok so we Boycott Horse drawn carriages. Then the business declines, the horses now have no purpose. There are so many so there is no space, so they are euthanized. Ok good work PETA

Im sorry to say that im not as passionate about animal cruelty, but this is Lea Michele and all her beauty, so ill listen to her and others like her and not go on a horse-drawn carriage. I heard they dont smell so nice anyway since they work all day long. poor things

the first thing that comes to my mind is 'out of all the charities she could of helped? she chooses this one?' but then again it's something that I was unaware of because I live in England, and it is quite sad for the horses.
