Nutn, I think that this is a good video to tell you that I have a hard time finishing any of thse videos. I'll get through about half before I turn it off. The reason being, pretty much everything you say sounds like it's coming straight from my father... Always being others-oriented and helping anywhere you can, showing appreciation for others, the fact that "workers are few," and the list goes on... Both you and my father are great men, and I feel blessed to be influenced by the both of you :)

This philosophy is very close to my life style. Be good not because you want to look good in eyes of other but because you want to be good. Never turn away from someone with his arm extended for help, never fear to ask for help yourself, even if you didn't help others. Believe that others are better than you, and that you could be better than most. See small things in life, and make them important.

I remember in high school after a disabled Vietnam Vet gave a speech on veterans day. I went down after the assembly to meet him. He had lost both legs and was in a wheelchair.I said "Sir I wanted to thank you for that sacrifices you made and for your service towards my freedom in this country." and shook his hand. Well said, and well presented. This may be the only nutnfancy video out there that talks life philosophy without weaving in gear philosophy too - which is important to note, because you lead a real life full of mostly "normal" activities just like the rest of us. Having the right perspective - a desire to be and do good - is most important in those "mundane", and "normal" everyday activities. Those are the moments that typify us and eventually sum up our lives. Be good, do good. Amen, brother.

Wow, this video was a very very good one! I completely agree with this Philosophy. Man the part where you started talking about making your pet's life a good one made me tear up. I just recently lost my dog to cancer and although it wasn't preventable, not a day goes by where I'm wishing that she was still by my side. Making the best of your life as well as others is always what means the most in the end because any second yours or their life could end. Great Work Nutn, such a great message :)

You hit the nail on the head with the waiter story Nutn. I used to be a waiter at a steak house for three years. While serving my tables, I noticed a table outside my section wasn't getting quality attention they should. I serviced them as best I could while attending to my tables. When the family was getting up to leave (which I hadn't noticed) the lady in the group walked to me, gave me $4 and thanked me for the service, and for letting her grandmother enjoy her birthday dinner. Made my week.

I lived on my own for years but seizures required that I move from Montana to Tennessee to live with family. The first day I started washing dishes, taking out trash, sweeping/mopping floors, practically 'paying rent' with tasks so that they would understand my appreciation. Despite the differences between us, they know I would do anything for them, even more than just chores. Also you dealing with problems can be broken into circles of control to achieve your most ambitious goals.

Nutn, you are absolutely right. But I'm in a place which is more adverse to all the goodness, and I'm not strong enough to do good consistently. i mostly agree with you , HOWEVER let's not jump the gun on declaring altruism a moral virtue. in an age of the big nanny welfare state the concept of altruism as a moral virtue leading directly to collectivism rules the day, the government demands and even uses force to make us act selflessly. i am an OBJECTIVIST and we promote the idea of helping people we put value on NOT on random looters and moochers! i'm a TMPer and agree with 99.9% of philosophy videos !!
